Love Kills

Too much love will kill you
It’ll make make your life a lie
Too much love will kill you
And you won’t understand why
You’d give you life, you’d sell your soul
But here it comes again
Too much love will kill you in the end

From Brian May‘s Too Much Love Will Kill You, from the album Back To The Light.

Funny how your feelings sometimes are best expressed through the words of others. Sometimes I feel this song is the soundtrack to my life. Indeed:

Too much love will kill you
Just as sure as none at all
It’ll drain the power that’s in you
Make you plead and scream and crawl
And the pain will make you crazy
You’re the victim of your crime
Too much love will kill you – every time

Love kills me, over and over again. And I can’t help going back for more.

Thing is, there is a kind of love for every person in your life. Family, friendship, romantic, and more besides… and nearly every single one of those has backfired. What is the point? Why bother letting myself get close to people when, at some point, they will disappear?

Brian May wrote a song called Who Wants To Live Forever for the film Highlander. The film is about someone that is, funnily enough, immortal. With this comes the realisation that every time he falls in love, there comes a point when his love grows old and dies. I really should watch that film, because I want to see how this man copes.

Who wants to live forever, who dares to love forever, when love must die?

love brian may’s songs esp. these two you mentioned. you shld. really watch ‘highlander’ it’s a good movie though the idea of living forever may sound absurd, it’s the way how the main character coped w/ his lost loves, dying and all, that’s made the movie appealing to me… 🙂
