Warning Light

Grandad got a brand new Peugeot 206 last year. Yesterday, the warning light came on. Fuel wasn’t getting into the car. It was quite familiar territory to me – the buses are exactly the same, which reminds me… see footnote1.

He pulled over and determined the meaning of the strange light, and so he dropped us off and headed back home, before planning to take it to the Peugeot garage. However the problem remedied itself and the light disappeared. He still rang the garage but it appears that without the light to back up his claim, Peugeot will not look at the car under the warranty: in other words it will cost. So as long as the car doesn’t throw its dummy out the bonnet, that’s how it will stay. Odd though.

Cars have now replaced mechanics it seems. No longer do you need someone saying “your car’s buggered” because there is a computer to tell you that. Only now, like (some) mechanics, your car tries to get you to go to the garage to have some works done that will cost you. Very underhand…

But anyway… 1For some reason, the Haymarket Bus Station is closed. It appears the newly installed roof, rather unlike MySQL on my computer, managed to uninstall itself. So while that’s repaired, the buses are breaking down everywhere! Fantastic. It also means I get to see how the Uni is doing over the summer. Nothing so far…
